Can you provide some specific examples? Who are the trade targets, who do they trade away, and why does that put them over the other teams that should be competing for the playoffs?

To play devils advocate here....

Nobody saw the Avalanche and Golden Knights making the playoffs this year. I think everyone on this site had Colorado as one of the top five most likely Rasmus Dahlin locations.

Just saying, you never know in this league.

Both NYR and MTL gets some goal scorers with Montreal they an sign a center or try trading for a center and a left defencemen if price and Weber r healthy they got a shot if lundqvist plays good during the season and be able to keep his consistency in playoffs they could do well they need another defencemen since they got rid of mcdonagh I would like to see NYR vs MTL series again tho last year it was pretty entertaining to watch , both got good goalies so close games but they both need that top goal scorer to get them to playoffs and I think both teams can pull it off

New Jersey will be no more than 3 points out...

Central: Nashville, Winnipeg, St. Louis, Minnesota, Colorado
Pacific: Anaheim, Vegas, Edmonton
San Jose, Calgary, LA will be in the hunt all season long...

Difference: Colorado actually had a #1C and Vegas actually had scoring depth.

As someone projected Montreal to get in the playoffs, gee they have to improve 30 points a big improvement indeed.
Tampa, Boston, Leafs, Florida
Washington, Columbus. Pens. Devils.
Nashville, Jets, Avs, Dallas
Vegas, Sharks, Ducks, Oilers

Danault, Shaw, Weber, Price are the only ones injured for an extensive amount of time. Please explain how your team is better than Philadelphia, Florida, New Jersey, Buffalo Dahlins, Carolina and New York isles.

OK , what teams are going falter to allow the Habs to get into the playoffs. Can Montreal jump over Panthers, Flyers, Isles, Carolina....to get in?

Yes Barkov is a #4 C, Trocheck sucks and should be bought out.
Giroux is a waste of space and Provorov is the next AMacs.
Barzal is a flop and everyone else in their roster is AHL level.
Carolina is garbage, their defense is weaker then swiss cheese.

Just stop. Even when healthy, the Canadiens are very weak at centre and right wing, and probably below average on defence,

I looked for your centre depth, but I just found John Tavares laughing.

Regular season matchup means ****. We'll crush you if you even make it to the playoffs. If we can beat Boston and New Jersey in 5, both superior teams, imagine want they would do to your precious Habs.

We got swept in the regular season by New Jersey. Playoffs are a different beast. Get that through your dumb skull.

These are NOT in order:
Atlantic: Toronto, Tampa Bay, Boston
Metropolitan: Washington, Columbus, Carolina (new coach, 2nd overall pick), NY Islanders (if JT stays and they upgrade their goaltending), Pittsburgh (i hope i'm wrong on this one)
Central: Nashville, Winnipeg, Dallas
Pacific: San Jose, Edmonton, Vegas, Calgary, Arizona

I have to be right one of these years about Arizona ... i've said it the last few years.

If these predictions are way off, i don't care, cause i'll be making full predictions after the playoffs are over.

Montreal was the fourth worst team in the entire league. Mete isn't going to be a stud top pairing defenseman like Habs fans think he is. He'll be a second pairing guy most likely. Tyler Bozak is the closest thing to a #1 center that the Habs could have next year. And every team goes through injuries at some point. There are very few reasons where that can be the sole reason that a team does poorly (i.e., Tampa in 2016-17).
