Sorry - just clarifying - are you saying 32 and next year's 1st rounders is too much for the Sabres? I'd kind of agree, but here's my thinking behind it being ok.
Moving up 30 spots this year for an elite scoring winger prospect in Svechnikov (desperately needed) for our 2019 pick and the extra draft capital we got for Kane. I'm not looking to recoup the losses from the, in hindsight, abysmal Kane/Bogo trade. I just see the Sharks pick as an extra asset we wouldn't usually have, which is why I was okay with just getting at worst a 2nd for him.
(I also think Skinner would fetch at least a 2nd round value at the deadline if the Sabres are not in the hunt/don't want to re-sign him)
