????? You convince Tavares sign in Carolina and then you give away unnecessarily Necas, Fleury and Staal. He probably doesn't sign with that weakened team now. Think Staal would waive his NMC when the Canes finally have a good team.

I agree with all of this except Hanifin getting 5 mil. Hanifin is bridging himself because he knows he is a better player than he has shown his first 3 years, he has taken many steps forward every season, in points total, goals, assists, etc. by about game 300 which will be this upcoming season, we'll start to see what Hanifin is really made of and what he might become. I think a 2 year, 5 mil deal with an AAV of 2.5 is a perfect value for him, not too high, not too low, he will be an RFA when it's up, Canes can decide to commit long term, move him, or do whatever they want. everything else, trading Necas Bean Staal & Darling, if i added or missed anyone into that trade, let me know, is a massive massive fleece for NYI in giving up Tavares & Ho-Sang. Berglund is also probably worse than Rask. If I could re-adjust this, I'd just offer the contract to Tavares of 7 years 13.5 mil, trade Rask and another decent piece+pick for Ho-Sang, and draft Zadina. If Tavares signs, lines would look like: Aho-Tavares-Teravinen, Ho-Sang-Necas-Zadina, Zykov-Staal-Lindholm, Foegele-Martinook-McGinn. Back end would likely be without Faulk so now it's Slavin-Pesce, Hanifin-TVR, Fleury-McKeowan, Bean 7th d-man, possibly Dahlbeck back on league minimum to be an 8th d-man.

No. No he doesn't. you sir, are delusional. The talent is there. But he's not getting 5 mil. I wouldn't want to sign long term if I were him either. I'd take the best on myself. He can be better than all of those d-men you named. he's shown he's taking steps. So bridging him/him wanting to be bridged to take those steps is how he'll end up with more than 5 mil AAV but not for another 2 years.

I think delusional is a stretch... Its easy enough to figure out, you look at players who put up similar numbers in the last year of ELC, then look at what they signed for, take that value and do a bit of math and figure out what % of the Cap that was at the time, then apply that % to the now higher salary cap and there you have it. the estimate of salary value. Term of the contract is a different story and I didn't mention it. I'm not sure if you noticed but bridging for young stars is a thing of the past, It is happening less and less with those select few with star potiental. young Star players want to sign for that good contract out of ELC so they can become the young UFA's like Tavares, Seguin, JVR, Karlsson, Doughty etc. and really get their big contracts for max term and have a choice where they can go by testing the open market to win.
Its no good to argue about speculation as we will know by sometime between now and October but this is the way it goes. Bridges are for players that the team is not quite sure what they have, I thinks its clear what Hanifin will be.
I'll have you know my meds keep me sane.
If and when he signs I hope you are man/woman/trans enough, or whatever you are, to come back and apologize for such a rude comment.

lol ok bud you're nuts. He's taking the bet on himself and bridging. If he signs long term, hallelujah, your top 5 pick in 2015 wants to be a long term Caniac. If he doesn't and he bridges like I think he will do, his number should start with 7 not a 5. I still genuinely think you are delusional for comparing him to Rielly. The only similarity they have is raw stats, other than that nothing is the same. & If you really think people of the internet are going to come back to you and apologize when they're wrong or when they're rude, buddy, stop watching hockey, don't get on the internet ever again, and you won't have that problem. till then, we're all at risk. chirp or be chirped, guy.

Sigh, I’m just having a bit of fun so no need to get all trollish. I couldn’t care less about an apology, I’m just wasting time recovering from a surgery. Internet people are so angry... you may want to try some maryjane for that.
Rielly is not the same player he was a few years ago and they are nothing alike right now I realize that but you look at the #’s Hanifin IS what Reilly WAS. When Hanafin signs that C.H. % will be 5.25 - 6 and if they wait until the cap rises, which is exactly what agents are doing, it will translate into a much higher number then your 2.5 million per year. I’m telling you that all the players I mentioned to compare to Hanifin were in a very similar place when they became RFA’s just out of ELC and the contracts they signed were of a certain value which is why Hanifin will get a similar value % wise.
Look at the D Carolina has on their roster and their contract history. It is there in black and white. 2.5 per year is what 3rd pairing scrubs are making. There are a couple exceptions but in 2018 where everything is over analyzed he will get 5.25-6% in the 5 million range give or take a few hundred thousand. Term is up in the air I don’t know how long he will get but that %# is what agents use to bargain contracts. I can tell you won’t be swayed and that’s fine but you are wrong.
