Flyers Reasonable Offseason - Armchair GM series

Created by: Caps_Man
Team: 2018-19 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: May 9, 2018
Published: May 10, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know that Philly has some good, young defenseman in the system that are ready, but...you can never have too much defense help, and if they feel that they are ready to give permanent roles to Sanheim and Morin, then they have some trade assets on defense (Davidson, Schlemko, Hunwick)

Rules for the Series:
1. Cap will always be set to $78M
2. I cannot have a player on 2 teams (ex: If I have JVR re-sign with TOR in the TOR one, I can't have him sign with VAN in the VAN one)

Philly has plenty of centers in Giroux, Couturier, Lehtera, Fillpula, Patrick, Rubtsov, and Frost. There is no need to bring in RNH.

Edmonton says no, Pittsburgh laughs. No need to bring in 3 d-men too

Giroux plays the wing, Filppula is a free agent and shouldn't be brought back, Lehtera sucks, 4C at best, Rubstov isn't NHL ready. The only interesting option is Frost but he's far from guaranteed to make the team. The Flyers can use a good 3C. Brining in a 2C would do that

Giroux played wing last year but has played center most of his career. Would be kind of silly to bring in another top 6 center when you have 3 and in this case 4 with Filpulla resigning.

      But we don't need a 3C for 3 years.

Then flip him for something when you don't need him anymore. That's the advantage of getting someone with term

If you start getting a reputation for just using guys until you don't need them anymore, players are not going to want to be a part of your organization. This isn't NHL 18, these things actually affect peoples lives.
