Sabres cant afford to trade Risto, unless they want to be in an endless loop of rebuilding, Nylander is also currently Buffalos best forward prospect, so if his value is just a flyer for you then Sabres are hanging on to him

The Sabres are getting two VERY good players in this scenario...two players who will probably do even better out East than in the Western Conference.
Spurgeon is just as good as Risto (just smaller) and Zucker is worth the Sabres moving Nylander + Larsson...who will be a RFA after next season.

Im not sold on Zucker at all, hes been decent up till last season which was great, but im not moving Risto for 40 points, we already get that from Risto. Spurgeon is not as good as Risto, and I know you dont believe that or you wouldnt have done this trade to start. Give up zucker just for a couple of inches and a flyer on Nylander? Not that spurgeon is bad, but Risto brings a lot more for the Sabres aside from Gs and As. The Sabres finally have a decent looking defense, I dont see them subtracting from it.

I really like Larsson. but your offer is really too good for me pass up. Buffalo's best prospects are Mittelstadt, Nelson, Smith, Bailey, Olofsson, Pilut probably in that order. I think you will get Botterill to make this trade.
    Let's make a deal!! cheers

Fair enough. I still think this trade works value-wise. Whether or not if fits the Sabres needs...that's open for debate.

Sabres pass. Buffalo just gets older, not in their best interest. Plus Nylander is not a “flier” he’s 20yo and had a decent 2nd half in roch. If he was in Missy putting up 110pts people wouldn’t stop raving about the kid. That’s not to say he will or won’t work out but he is still a consensus top25 prospect in the game, that’s valuable

Dahlin is left handed but plays RHD, so Spurgeon would be 2nd paring. Zucker would be the top LW, Buffalo does not have any. IMO this is a no brainer, thank you for proposing it.

Spurgeon will be 29 and has been missing time, 21 games last year. At that age with injuries he could come over and be Bogo again. Also at 5'9 without production, theirs not he can really offer. Zucker had a great season, but is he worth trading our most consistent dman whos been the runaway best dman for this team for years, at a time they finally get someone who can play with him. What if this year was an anomaly and he regress back to the 40 point player he has been

Risto alone in this trade is unrealistic neither spurgeon or zucker are worth as much as you are thinking.

Then you (obviously) know next to nothing about how good Spurgeon is... Zucker would be a great LW on Eichel's line!

Wilson and Orpik for Coyle, Belpedio, and Staal?

I mean, if you want to get tough...

To work off earlier convo's you might try this lineup:

Granny/Staal/Wilson (for the Granny protection you were looking for)- 1st line
    Parise/Koivu/???- shutdown line
    Foligno/JEE/Nino-PITA to play against
???/Larsson/???- either for grinders, an energy line, or a kids line.

??? for any of the prospects, or possible FA signings.

I'm not sold on Nylander either. His game just seems more suited for the big ice, and he hasn't transitioned well to the less time and space of NA ice. There is plenty of time for him to figure it out still, but he'll be a disappointment until he fully figures it out. Granny was kind of the same way; the inherent skill showed; but watching him you were always wanting him to take that next step in his game.

Except I would expect to get a lot more than Orpik back for Staal... Throw in your 1st and the RFA rights to Madison Bowey this summer, and I might consider it.

I had considered that top line, but Granny plays his off-wing. If he or Wilson can play on the left, I'd be all for that line combo.

The title claimed you were "obsessed" with Tom Wilson.

    I'm not seeing it.

Wilson this year=Coyle, but two years younger, two inches taller, and with twice as many hits (albeit 10x as many PIM, but often as part of bigger altercations where the other team gets just as many minutes).

Belpedio had some offense in college, but doesn't have any in pro, so he's not currently enough of a driving force to mess up the chemistry on the Caps' top line. A rental of Eric Staal could be tempting, if Washington is comfortable moving one of Vrana, Burakovsky, or Connolly up to that top group.

Obviously that's only something the Wild go for if they're trying to rebuild. Otherwise, just keep Staal. But I think a rental of Staal totally gets you Wilson. Belpedio probably gets you Orpik. Feel free to dump Coyle's salary into the mix, but he's not worth a first round pick.
