Word on the street is that Edmonton has signed Persson... hopefully Chairelli didn't pay 3x what Botterill did here. rolling eyes

well, they can't, 'cause Persson's 24, so he can only be signed to a 1-year ELC. but:
a) Chiarelli might be dumb and throw in a bunch of p-bonuses, which, frankly, he maybe could do and get away with without any real consequences.
b) I could easily imagine Chiarelli getting an email from NHL Central Registry saying, "no, Peter, you can't sign him to a 3-year ELC, he's 24, so he only gets a 1-year ELC." (supposedly, something like this actually happened to Jim Benning once.)

If there's a way to overpay, Chairelli will find it. He's clever that way.
