If you're going to tank, go all the way. Petry has good value. No reason to move Mete and Juulsen back to the minors.

Also, if you're going this route, you want to be amassing picks for 2019 and 2020, since the two best Quebec players of a generation are on the rise: Raphael Lavoie and Alexis Lafrenniere

Not quite sure if joking but I don't support this kinda thinking at all. We need to rebuild but we need to keep a couple of good vets around (i.e. not guys like McDonald) and not just throw our youngsters to the wolves a la Buffalo and Edmonton and destroy their careers. Not to mention while this team would be downright awful, it wouldn't guarantee us Lafreniere. Sure we would likely get a top pick after sucking long enough but then it's a really tough job to turn the ship around as we've seen with Edmonton and Buffalo.

FLA passes....way to much to give up for a possible rental......they could just wait a year and go after him when he is a UFA.

You could get more quality for price without retaining money. Last trade offer for him I heard of was this season Stlouis offered them - j Allen, Robert Thomas, 1st round pick and Joel edmondson ( don’t think I spelled that name right)

Half joking. If you're going to embrace the dive, go deep. The difference is with Molson, he'll always be able to afford a few overpriced vets on the tail end who can teach the kids about character, etc. And, while you can't control how the lottery goes, you also can't control what happens to players between being 16 and 18. At the start of this season, Svechnikov was #1, Veleno was #3 and Bouchard was in the high teens, ranked behind Jared MacIsaac. So you just want to be in a place to grab the talent if it's there.

I tend to believe the Habs aren't nearly as bad as they showed this year, but if Price doesn't rebound or Danault goes soft after a few concussions ... etc ... the situation could get dire fast. So, if Molson believes that this cast of characters won't ever have what it takes to mount a serious run at a Cup, then I would agree to start the dismantling, pull the band-aid off, and get quality players to grow with.
