Huge trades. Huge offseason. Back on track?

Created by: Jbarah10
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 17, 2018
Published: May 17, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
CALGARY TRADE: By acquiring patches they solidify their top 6 with Gaudreau, Monahan, Backlund, Patches, Tkachuk, and maybe Bennet. Forwards would be deep enough and defence has young replacements in Valimaki and Andersson
OTTAWA TRADE: It seems the sens are going down the rebuild rout with the rumours about Karlsson, Anderson is aging and Fucale is a great goalie with decent upside who won't get an opportunity in Montreal. Hudon gives the sens another good young player who can play centre or wing, trading Duchene will give more opportunities to Ottawa's young centres such as Brown and White. The draft picks are there to sweeten the deal.
DALLAS TRADE: to any team really, don't care about what we get back
FLORIDA TRADE: Florida get much needed depth, especially if they want to push for a playoff spot next year.
VEGAS TRADE: McNiven is a decent goalie prospect, nothing spectacular. Alzner is just a cap dump, Vegas has tons of cap space, the pick is their to sweeten the deal more. Schmidt is the perfect bottom pairing guy to play alongside Juulsen for 1 year.

Is it cause other teams reject or because we have one of the worst GMs in the league

Considering how much Sens overpaid for Duchene, I don't believe they'll trade him for an AHL goalie, a TOP-9 forward and three second rounders. It doesn't make any sense for them.

I’m on board getting duchene but not a fan of getting rid of pacioretty I don’t think bergevin is smart enough to think of a trade like this to be honest we need top 2 centers basically if we want playoffs and a top left d I think if we get that we could be good to go if begevin does that then he’s doing it right

Fucale is an AHL goalie foe now but has good potential. Hudon is a top 9 guy NOW, in a season or two he'll be in the top 6, he honestly is underrated and doesn't get enough media attention imo, and the sens would love a few second rounders after all the picks they gave up for Duchene

Ya Chicago fans wouldn’t like it but it would be nice to see Toews in Montreal that’s what I think we should use our cap space to sign top centers so we don’t trade any of our top players

I would just trade a 2019 first round pick and 2nd or a 3rd round pick he’s not worth a lot

He's a great player, 3 time Stanley cup champion, great leader but he's 30 years old and has long contract with 10 mil a year. Worth it? Don't think so especially with what we'd have to give up

IDK why everyone on here thinks that OTT overpaid for Duchene. The guy is unrealll and extremely fun to watch! HUGE upgrade from Turris. The only way we lose this trade is if the 2109 1st round pick is in the top 3 (Which statistically isn't likely, I hope). Duchene's hometown is 2 hours from Ottawa and he made it pretty clear that he wants to stay. So it'll take a lot more than a G that is a Bust for most people in the league, an undersized LW, and a couple 2nds to land a true #1 C!

I also think Toews total points have been decreasing every year for the past like 5 years, which is terrifying that CHI fans, especially with that $10M contract....

Fair point but Fucale a bust? Don't you know goalies take longer to develop, plus he's not getting a fair shot in Montreal, a move to a team with a lack of true goalie prospects could do him the world. Hudon undersized but we're seeing a lot of undersized players now to a guy like marner comes to mind. Obviously Hudon is no Marner but he's still decent and gonna become better.

I do agree with you that Hudon has potential and can be a great NHLer if he continues to improve. But i do think that Fucale is a bust... I've heard he's got serious confidence issues (on the ice and in the room) and he hasn't improved really since we went professional. That being said, Hab fans should be really excited about McNiven, he seems like he's going to be a star. Also, from an OTT perspective, they traded for a good Goalie prospect at the trade deadline, so they're not desperate to make another trade.... although you can't have enough good goalie prospects.

So many people think the habs are the worst team in the league that we don’t have a shot but we got a better shot then a lot of teams just needs to be retooled to make playoffs

I do think the Habs are thin on prospects... But with price and some good wingers/defence, you should be fine.

Also, Habs fans should happy that they have x4 seconds in the draft! This draft is probably one of the deepest draft in the last like 10 years.

for Duchene the Habs would have to pay 2019 1st , 2018 2nd , Gallagher and Lindgren . You are overvaluing Shaw , he has a long history of injuries ....definitely a contract Montreal would like to rid themselves of. Schmidt is not going anywhere , great value @ 2.25
