giving up too much in MTL trade. I made a similar post today with Drai and Parayko and would like to see the Blues pursue it if they have a chance at Carlson or Green.

Interesting for Edmonton sure, but I don't think they would trade Draisaitl after just signing him long term. Also, this trade for EDM just keeps reducing their scoring problems, but obviously fixes their D problems. Parayko for Nugent Hopkins+ makes more sense I feel....Just curious because I'm assuming you're a Blues fan, what convinces you that Parayko should be expendable? I thought he'd be an untouchable for the Blues

His lack of physicality on defense hurts us. He also has not reached his scoring potential and we are not sure if he will. He is playing great for Canada right now but for whatever reason it does not seem to translate to the NHL. Don't get me wrong though, Parayko is a huge part of our D and is very hard to give up. He is still extremely solid on defense and decently offensive (also young). I would only trade him for a 1C or a 2C with other pieces added. RNH wouldn't get the job done for me. Unless Klefbom + RNH for Parayko but EDM won't give that up

I feel like at this point in his career, Green is better off as a 3rd pair guy with PP1 time. That's a lot to pay him (almost as much as Parayko, and he won't provide the same quality of play as Parayko). The bigger concern though, is Green's health. Dude's only played 82 games 1x in 13 seasons; he's played in something like 75% of possible games. Parayko has missed 3 games in 3 seasons. I like Drai but I don't know if we would be any better if we lose Parayko. Just my opinion at the moment, I've seen this trade before and thought "hell yeah where do I sign" haha.

what do you believe would be fair for MTL? I'd also be willing to scrap the MTL deal and go for Faulk/Skinner and then we don't need to sign Green or Carlson.

Personally, I'd rather sign Carlson or trade for Faulk or a similar player. Green just fit cap wise and could sign him on a shorter term deal. And if we trade for a RHD replacement then we can't do the MTL trade or we'd be giving our entire prospect pool away sans Thomas.

Armstrong was unwilling to trade one of the "big" 4 prospects and 2018 first to get Hoffman at the deadline so I very highly doubt he trades away 2 of them plus 2 firsts and Walmen. It is just a lot of future pieces to give up.

Maybe give up the 2018 1st and one of the prospects to get one of Gallagher or Paches, doubt MTL moved Gallagher though.

Edm could get a lot more for drai than a parayko type player and 2 throw ins. Drai is only 22 and his last 2 season had 77 and 70 points. I don’t think they would even listen unless you threw in kyrou and Thomas...even then I don’t see why you would since the odds of either forward being as good as drai is slim. Better off just signing an fa if you edm. Mtl would not make that trade either. Outside of a late first rounder (and another potential late first) they are not getting much back. Thompson and Kostin (who I like) are gambles. Odds are they won’t be better than Gallagher or patches. Plus having to eat bergies contract. Why? They could move each seperately at the deadline and get more than are here.
