I don't understand, why is Pacioretty so low-valuable? I'm a habs fan, but still, when I see Nash, Stasny or Tatar trade, I can't agree Pacioretty is only worth a mid-late 1st and B prospect. I mean, come on! Real scouts know the whole MTL team sucked and when given real playmakers, Pacioretty would reach 30g +, again, for the 6th time in 5 seasons. (he did with Desharnais!) He can agree for an extension "with MTL", then get traded if that so necessary, but he's still a top 10 NHL LW. No doubt I'd prefer him to stay and bounce back, then be traded at his real value, but MTL needs a change now. Unless the plan the is to tank. So I think Vilardi and a 1st is just good!
You're not comparing the same thing. I see these Patches posts and they are for trades for non playoff team or bare playoff teams....That makes the picks very high.
Now, closer to TDL, Patches might age traded but the team giving up pick is expecting that pick to be 25 to 31 in the first round, not a mid teen or lottery pick.
So, I agree with you if Patches has a good you his value goes up. But for LA to give a last years 10th pick, and the Kings are darn closer to being a lottery pick in 2019, I can't see them giving up so much for one year rental the summer.
Yea, I didn't understand the Tatar trade but it was for 1st, 2nd and 3rd pick....and right now that 1st in 30 or 31, and Tatar still has another year.
Stastny was for the 27th pick, and of course for a was team in a playoff push. I bet we have witnessed very few trades, that a iffy playoff team offers trades a mid first rounder and a possible lottery pick for a a one year rental.
Would Montreal in their current position offer Juulsen and a first rounder for a one year rental?
