Kempe is pretty much our biggest untouchable next to Vilardi. Plus we aren't giving up a top pairing defenseman in Muzzin with absolutely no return at defense either

Can't blame Kings fans. They're old and slow enough without Max and he's hardly the guy to change the trajectory. See y'all in the lottery next year. (Assuming the Habs will be there too).

why? thats not me saying he shouldn't be untouchable, just wondering what is seen in him as untouchable cuz i don't watch a lot of kings hockey games. His stats don't impress me that much(even though he is still super young) so what is it that the kings see him as "untouchable"

I think @Truebeliever said it well enough for me. We're getting old, and we're on the decline. I'm not one of the Kings fans that refuses to see that. We don't need to be trading our next generation of stars away for more depth and declining players. Kempe is the leader of our group of prospects that'll hopefully get us back on track.

Yep... Seen some predictions at the end of last season that the Kings would be the team to draft Hughes. Not entirely out of the question anymore to me

I think Pacioretty for Carter would be a smart trade for both teams. It probably would require a little sweetener from LA, but the Kings get a little younger and Kempe gets the #2 slot for himself. Habs get a decent C who has a few years left.

Need for need, I don't mind it. I can see LA being the one adding the extra sweetener yeah. Both are still feasible 60-80 point guys on a good season, but Carter's simply got less seasons left in his career than Patches.

That was my logic behind the sweetener, plus the $750k in cap. Habs could likely eat some of Max's cap to make it even sweeter, since LA needs a little relief. Maybe send us the Mike Richards penalty, too.
