A different direction 3

Created by: RedWing9119

Description
Even if they don't sign Tavares this is a brutal team going forward and in a year or two when Necas is ready to play center full time you could still trade O'reilly. This also solidifies their defensive pairings for years and gives them scoring depth through all four lines .

Don't know how two years of Faulk till free agency improves the Sabres defence "for years". Plus deKeyser is hardly a that steady. Sabres 2019 is likely a top five pick, Sabres won't be trading it for that very meh return.

Five stars my friend,
Thank you for taking the time to build a team, I know how hard that can be.
I like how you are thinking out side the box and building for today.
Unfortunately, this was the same approach that DATM took and look where it got the team.
I think your trades are reasonable, probably not the direction I would take but good,
I do not think you need to give up a 2nd for a team to take Pominville's contract, if you look at all NHL RW goal production, he ranked 36th last year, he is actually an asset with only one year left on his contract.

We arent trading eichel. Next years first is probably off the table too, unless its for a real difference maker that has term left, im thinking an extended oel or something along those lines. And pominville was never one of my favorites but for the one year he has left he still produces enough that im not paying to move him.

This was simply an exercise in imagination as the title implied. The return for Eichel is more than fair. i was actually more afraid that a Canes fan would say it was too much. Oh and btw OEL for a first round pick? Huh? Dekeyser's career numbers are almost identical to Calvin Dehaan; you know the guy EVERYBODY on this site is signing to their imaginary teams. Plus hes 3 inches taller with a much longer reach. Finally, you might not have to give a second rounder to get rid of Pominville but I needed cap space to make the Tavares signing work. The cost was not important to me.

Oh and I dont even understand the 2 years of Faulk comment. Are you implying that Botterill is incapable of resigning players? Because that seems like a tremendous disadvantage for an NHL GM.
