Definitely not Hanifin and I might even argue that 1Rd should be a 2Rd, but this is a solid Armchair post!

Don't know why the Kings would trade 4 years of Carter for one year of Skinner. Faulk and Hainsey are about the same for a year. Then you in effect the Leafs are trading Kapanen and first for one year of Faulk. Way too much for the Leafs to give up.

From the LAK perspective, I saw it as them trying to get younger and a little more dynamic, but I can see how giving up 4 years for 1 may be a little much. I thought about skipping the conditional picks and having Skinner sign an extension as part of the deal, but conditional picks are fun.

With the TOR trade, as a neutral fan I think that a 1st and top prospect are definitely needed to get a RHD like Faulk. I originally had Carrick in instead of Hainsey, but switched to shed a bit of cap for the Leafs. If it was a 1st, 4th, Kapanen and Carrick do you think that makes more sense?

Thanks! Seeing the 7x7 extension Kane signed with SJS reminds me that a player like Krieder has a lot of value in the league, so I didn't want to undersell him. And I agree, Carolina isn't going to include Hanifin.

I think there is this fascination about ANY RHD being so good, especially if he is comes to the Leafs. But really having Faulk (and he really that wasn't good last year) for a first and Kapanen sure hurts the Leaf future. Kapanen looks to a starting second or third line winger. That's just my take, that these short terms gain for a rebuilding team (I still say the Leafs are rebuilding) aren't what the Leafs are looking for.
And the Skinner trade....these extension rarely happen, but they seem so in vogue on CapFriendly.

I guess that might be the biggest difference, is I see Toronto being more aggresive with Matthews and Marner still on their ELCs. If they're still sort of rebuilding then pretty low chance of Kapanen moving.

I can see the Brown part working, but not Pesce heading out.

Pesce is more like what toronto will be looking for rather than an offensive defenseman like faulk.. we had two 50 point defenseman but they cant play defence

I understand Toronto would rather Pesce, I just don't think Carolina would move him.
