Maybe gardiner stays depending on who the Leafs sign as ufa's this year and they make a push... but I get the feeling that Gards + is a possible trade option to help solve the RD situation. The trick I think will be to find a team weak on the L side with some strength on the right side that they;d be willing to give up. Carrick could be an interesting part of a package as he offers some 6/7 rd depth, and he has played pretty well with Gards, so by trading the two together you're effectively offering a possible d pairing option for a RD coming back. Maybe Tanev??
