    The thing with Kotkaniemi is that even if he's NHL ready, he can't (because of his contract) quit his Liiga team till 2 years. So your plan couldn't works.

    I though transfer between IIHF member league (LIIGA) to NHL was possible under conditions. Acquiring a prospect center like Kotkaniemi, will be healthy for MTL pipeline for the future.

    Thornton is staying with the Sharks, No way i see Joe leaving San Jose for Montreal.

    San Jose group is aging and they just sign Kane at 7$M, they will offer less than 8$M for his services next years, with a good 2 years offer, there is a chance that he may consider it at least smile

    Jumbo Joe will play for the league minimum, I suspect, especially if San Jose moves aggressively to get Tavares. I think he's hoping to contribute and have fun with the rest of his career.
