Flames get an older, smaller D man that contributes less offensively and has his contract expire sooner.......for a mid to late 2nd round pick in NEXT years draft?

Flames say no thanks, try again.

Yeah, Hamilton is without question in the Top 15 dmen in the league, Top 20 if you're being overly conservative. Spurgeon isn't close to that list and probably never will be. Why would the Flames do this?....for a late 2nd rounder?....in next year's draft?

Especially not happening within the Conference.

I guess player rankings are just a matter of opinion.

(I'm not saying Calgary should entertain that offer.)

I appreciate the article reference. And...player rankings are definitely a matter of opinion. The numbers/metrics that Sportsnet chooses to use for this are based on opinion, right?

The article is kind of making my point for me here. We're on an Armchair GM website, working on building teams. I don't think it'd be hard to convince many GMs, in the NHL or on this site, that Dougie Hamilton is a better player and asset than: Petry, Slavin, Spurgeon, Faulk....BRODIE!

The rarity of the right-shot player, whether you prescribe to it or not, also plays in. Certainly with NHL GMs and coaches.
