Not Too Big, but big none the less. Trades with EDM/STL/CBJ/NYI/ARI/PHI/MTL

Created by: arafay
Team: 2018-19 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: May 26, 2018
Published: May 29, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
EDM Trade -
EDM gets: PP man who is also a great 2nd pairing defenceman at even strength; Much needed penalty killer who can also produce in a bottom six role; 1st if they don't keep Myers;
WPG gets: 10th Overall pick to draft Jesperi Kotkaniemi; cap space

STL trade - (from STL fan)
STL: Gets a fast winger/center who as an edge and consistently produces 40 pts in 60 games no matter where he plays (even 4th line)
WPG gets: Get 1st that was sent in the Stastny trade back; 3rd round pick; cap space

Chiarot Trade -
CBJ: good 6/7 defenseman
WPG: 3rd round pick;

NYI Trade -
NYI: Isles get pick for someone they weren't going to sign anyway
WPG: Upgrade on kulikov

ARI Trade -
ARI: To prevent ARZ's season from dying because Raanta went down with injury
WPG: Cap space; 6th

PHI Trade -
PHI: 3rd; moved one of 4 goalies
WPG: Someone to backup hellebuyck

MTL Trade -
MTL: good defencemen who is a little too expensive; as compensation for Kulikov's high cap hit, also get an NHL ready ambidextrous (look it up) prospect.
WPG: cap space

Stastny -
If the Jets cant sign stastny to a 1 year, win cup deal, then Roslovic moves up and Little centers 3rd line/Tanev draws in. In this case the Jets make a 2nd line center rental or wing rental (Skinner)

Enstrom -
He will retire only to come back after roster freeze like fisher (if he does retire)

Last word -
People keep saying that vesalainen will play in the AHL next year but he has comparable numbers to Aho's and Laine's the season before they came to the NHL.

In conclusion:
- The jets got a future playmaking 2C(1C on most teams)
- Buff's replacement
- Solve cap problems for years to come!

You would have to qualify Mrázek at over $4 mil, I believe.

Oh. I didn't know that. We sign him at as UFA then because no one is offering him 4.1 million

Good trades but I think you are over valuing Perrault, even after considering that the WPG 1st in 2018 will be late in the round. This would be an effective yet doable offseason for Peg. And btw, agree with your point that Mrazek will not get his QO and become an UFA.

My only issue is you fail to recognize that Kevin "allergic to trades" Cheveldayoff is running this team IRL!

Yeah. One of the only ones in the league (used to be more common). It doesn't matter too much in play (except broken stick), but I thought it would be a fun fact to add.

Perrault is not overvalued because he could have had over 50 points this season. Maybe make the 3rd a 4th but the value is fine IMO.
As far chevy being allergic to trades goes, he is not. He just doesn't make bad/unnecessary trades like Bergefail and Chiarelli. He was right to make only 3 trades in his time because he was building this team. Look at his 3 trades so far, their genius. I think these trades are great for the jets and are all things chevy could pull off.

Not to get hung up on one player but I'm going to argue your point that a 1st/4th is 'fair value' for Perrault. Look at the Kane deadline deal this year. A 1st/4th and fringe prospect for Kane. Yes, EK is a wing while Perrault can play C but you're in the minority if you think Perrault has more trade value. As for saying he 'could have' had 50 points this year... he didn't. Combine his playoff totals and you get 40 points in 79 GP. Kane, on the other hand, had 59 points in 87 GP. Not comparable to me.

Also, not saying Chevy never makes trades, but expecting him to become this prolific (7 distinct offseason trades) practically overnight is straight up ridiculous.

Perreault for a 1st is minimum. Teams will probably somewhat compete for his services. Worst case it's probably late first
Anyways chevy will have to make trades this season

But that price of a 3rd round pick is way too high. Columbus wouldn’t even entertain that. Plus, they also have Carlsson and Gavrikov who should arrive next summer.

The Jackets don’t need defensemen. The Jackets have Murray and they also have Carlsson right now. The real need of the Jackets is down the middle of the ice. Plus, Jarmo likes to draft players. He is very unlikely to give up a pick like a 3rd rounder for a player the Jackets could easily replace from within.
