I think if you told Tavares that Clutterbuck was his RWer he would laugh you out of the room and say negotiations are off.

yeah this team is not worth Tavares time and you will most likely need to give him 8 years especially if its only at 10.5 mil.

Where did JT Miller come from? He's an RFA you can't just sign him. Also Minnesota doesn't want that Boychuk contract.

Tampa is not going to have the money to re-sign him.

Then you have to trade for him or give proper compensation to Tampa and you did neither.

Tampa can offer players less money to stay or re-sign.

They have an advantageous state tax rate and are a very good team with young talent (Kucherov, Point, Vasilevsky, Hedman).

Tavares will not want to re-sign with the NYI unless he is guaranteed that they have a starting goalie they can actually win with, and a much improved defence core. Remember, their new rink won't be built for another 4 years so does he really want to waste his most important UFA contract on a team with so many unknowns?

I don't know where he will land, but he'll have so many options from so many better teams it'll be hard for him to choose what's best for his situation. He wants to win, the money will be secondary.
