82 million would help so much

Description
If it goes to 82 million there isn't much other than trying to get rid of Mason's salary for this year. Maybe retain a bit if needed.
Next year you hope the cap goes to 85+ other wise you'll have to do a lot of work. So far Myers would have to be let walk and probably have to trade Perreault next year even if cap does go up. Hopefully that opens up enough room for Wheeler, Connor and Laine to sign.

I think you can save a lot of those issues by just trading Myers, and sliding Niku and Poolman into the lineup.

Poolman was an above average in every advanced metric you can measure a players' performance by, and looked good in the games he played with the Jets.

Niku led the AHL in points by a defenseman as a rookie and looked Karlsson-ish. At the very least he's earned a shot with the big club.

As it is, I love Myers but he's making more than any 3rd pairing Dman in the league and unlike Edmonton's 3rd pairing, is tradable and would be top 4 on any other team. Also you really want to shed another 3mill in cap. Chevy isn't gonna want to have 2019's bonuses carry over to next year's cap when he's trying to sign 81, 29, and 26.

From what Bill Daley said the cap might increase to $80 million at the very most, No way i see it increasing to $82 million. $7 million increase is just too much.

Why do fans think they are entitled to sign their own UFAs? Stastny was trade as rental, kinda obvious Jets can't afford to resign him. With this team you're still carrying Performance Bonus cap into next year, which probably isn't wise. Mason, better hope a team has a long term injury so you can trade him otherwise his 4m cap status a Jet.

Entitled? Wouldn't you want them to resign him giving what Laine Ehlers and he said about how well the worked together. I believe the numbers also show for themselves.

Hey, Stastny is one of the top two forwards available as UFAs this summer. Of course the Jets want to sign him. But Jets have cap issues, so not having cap carryover is certainly a consideration. And back up goalies making 4m without getting money back is almost an impossible trade. Jets might have to try to trade Perrault or Little, who might have trade value and make a deal without retaining money or having a player in return. Either way, it's tough finding a partner who would would take a big dollar contract without sending money back to the Jets.

I could see Stastny ding a 6x6 deal in Winnipeg. That's going to be a cup contending team for a few years and Stastny looked pretty comfortable in that lineup. He's likely worth more on the open market but sacrificing a bit of coin to chase cups might be an attractive trade off for him
