Why would Botterill not make that trade for Elder. he is productive, the asking price is very low and his cap is for only one more year.
Let's make a deal!!! awesome face

I’m confused. You’re essentially trading three guys (the oldest of whom is 23) that all show solid potential with the Devils, and could become great pieces for the team, for a 28 year old defenseman that can’t even keep a roster spot at the NHL level. I mean sure, you get a couple of mid-round picks, but New Jersey gets substantially worse with those trades. Why would Jersey do this?

1. Pavel Zacha needs a new start. He was scratched several times this year and has 51 points in 140 games, which is not the best for a 6th overall pick (2015). 2. Severson underperformed most of the season, and he is only going to be making more money as he gets deeper into his contract. 3. Wood is a good player, but he is going to be losing a spot in the line-up when McLeod, Bastian, Boqvist, or Popugaev is called up. In my opinion, this trade helps out both sides. Devils need a few more picks, and Vancouver needs more depth.

He was scratched several times because he partied too much and didn't prioritize. That is why Hynes scratched him so much. He's gotten better. No way we trade Wood.

WTF :O so NJD trade Zacha (6th overall pick), young Wood with 20 goals last season and Severson - to my opinon solid defensman, who still did not fullfilled his potencial, + 2 mid card pics. You just throw them away for what?? A depth defenseman and five mid card drafts ... sorry, but this is just crazy.
