Thanks. I think Zuccarello would be a really good fit on Calgary's top line, and Brodie is a big upgrade for the Rangers top 4.

I think it works for Calgary too, they have the cap room to spare and they don't have much for picks in the 2018 draft.

Out of curiosity, what's the deal with Brendan Smith? Why did he go from inking a 4 year deal with the Rangers, to the AHL in a matter of months?

Also, I've used the Brouwer/Smith idea on here a few times. I like it, but I think the above proposal with Rangers needs some picks going to CGY.

1. I think Brodie having 2 years left compared to Zucc having one year left needs some insurance. Like the Flames get a 2020 3rd if he doesn't re-sign with us and we don't trade him.

2. I think we need another 3rd from 2018 or 2019 coming our way because Smith A) spent most of the season in the AHL last year and B) has a 3rd year on his contract, where as Brouwer has only two. Flames are taking a bigger risk here in my opinion.

The Rangers sure lost faith in Smith fast. He played 44 games with them this year, and he wasn't even that bad. I think he's worth taking the chance on for Calgary, even with the extra year, versus keeping Brouwer and likely playing him on the 4th line.

I can see a pick going Calgary's way to account for Brodie's extra year, but I can also see Calgary as the more desperate team in the trade (assuming they strike out in free agency). Either way, I think this is a pretty good base for a deal.

Slow and bad before, now Cannot keep up in robot league. Even if he works out 7 days a week and makes his way back, it wouldn't be pretty. Bad decisions and goes for big hits, old school.

Interesting. I always thought Smith was known as a good skater.

Actually, not the slowest, just a train wreck on skates. Too bad! Coulda shoulda been a K Klein clone. No endurance. Years of floating, I doubt he makes it back. Good 8/9d lol.
