JT is possible

Created by: scarbrow21
Team: 2018-19 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 4, 2018
Published: Jun. 4, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Moves required to facilitate the signing but nothing is un-reasonable.

-EDM get RHD with conditional 1st as assurance of an extension, depth scoring and PK help while giving up the 10 OA selection.
-MTL gets a C at a reasonable cap hit without giving up a 1st.
-ARZ gets a 1B as goaltending was an issue for them when Raanta was hurt last year without taking on major term or giving up major assets.
-FLA is going to move one of Pysyk or Petrovic, here's a replacement who can play with some grit if needed which Tallon loves.
-WPG gets a Star C signed to long term and arguably the best C depth in the league. Top 9 is impressive and D-core is still sound with Morrisey and Trouba signed long term.

It is possible IF a lot of cap dumping happens but the major concern should be next year. Unless you plan on letting Wheeler walk, you are going to struggle to sign Connor, Wheeler, Laine.

I don't think either team would rush to make this trade and, because of that, it won't go down this way. If the Jets don't get JT, they'll probably want to keep Little. If they somehow get Tavares, they'll be desperate to dump Little's contract, at which point he'd be cheaper than a prospect and two picks.

It's resigning to the fact you have to either let Wheeler walk, trade Buff, Kulikov, and/or Perrault in the future but the Jets have the wing depth to do that. Ehlers, Laine, Connor, Vesalainen is a solid top 6 winger core. Maybe if you have to move Perrault and Kulikov to get JT I think you do it considering your C-depth is Pitsburgh-esque with Tavares-Scheif down the middle. Perrault, Kulikov gone frees almost 8.5 which covers a Laine raise essentially. CAP going up a few Million the following year opens 2-5M more for Wheeler raise. Then you're looking at Connor Ros raises but there's already room because of the space provided in the above scenario in bonuses coverage (which once they get new deals there's no bonuses for them to hit)

Trade adjusted for more fair value to MTL.

The issue is a timing one. The 2018 draft will be over before JT moves. So if he signs in WPG, Little will be cheaper. If he doesn't sign in WPG, the Jets probably don't want to make that trade at all. Either way, the 2018 picks aren't in play.
