Great trade

Blues need a franchise center , edmonton needs a scoring winger for McDavid. Probably wont ever happen but I thought it was interesting.

Drai is an amazing player and puts up points just like Tarasenko. Plus he's younger. I see how it makes sense but I'd be worried about who will be the finisher on the Blues without Tarasenko...

Tarasenko has just 20 more pts than Drai (in 10 more games but actually less overall ice time) over the last 3 seasons but Tarasenko has 40 more goals than Drai in that time period. Only one guy in the league scores more than Tarasenko, and he's a couple games away from possibly leading his team to the cup...

I like building a team with centers, but Tarasenko has always carried all the weight on his line so IMO you can't lessen his value by saying winger for center.

This trade is the perfect hockey trade. But Edm fans will say not enough and blues fans will say not enough. But lets face it, Draisaitl is an elite C that's 22 years of age, Blues biggest need. Tarasenko is an elite winger who is still under contract and fits the need that Edmonton requires, would probably score 50+ playing with Mcdavid. I'm certain that if we as armchair GM's can come up with this trade. both Edm and St. Louis GM's have thought of this, will it happen... unlikely, but would sure improve both teams!

Well you also said Tarasenko was a 33 goal scorer. When his 3 previous years were 37,40,39. He's more likely to be a 40 goal scorer and THOSE are rare.

I could see the blues moving parayko for draisaitl. Not tarasenko.

Might be fair value wise. But as other fans said above, Tarasenko is our sniper and Draisaitl wouldn’t replace his 40 goals. Also, look at those RWs. Something needs to be done. We have consistently been poor at RW since Vladdy came over. We need another top 6 RW and a top 6 C and I think we are set. Hard to give up our top RW for a center and still need 2 RWs as a result

I could see it turning into a bigger trade if Draisaitl and Taransenko were swapped. Something like Draisaitl and Nurse for Tarasenko and Parayko. Maybe some picks involved

Perhaps not. But I like the looks of this team a lot better with Draisatl AND Tarasenko.
I would trade Parayko+ for Draisatl and play him at RW on a line with Schenn and Schwartz, and call it the Blitzkrieg line.
Acquiring Draisatl would make StL a much more attractive destination for Tavares, too.
Or, if we insist on playing Draisatl at C next to Tarasenko, we could also acquire a Hoffman or Pacioretty to play LW, allowing Steen to stay on the 3rd line alongside Thomas and one of Thompson or Kyrou. Or, perhaps Fabbri is closer than I expect, and against all odds he's ready to play top-6 minutes again. In that case, no LW upgrades are needed, and the Blues can look to invest that money on D or in goal.
Bring back Brodziak and hire a couple fast goons to round out the 4th line, and trade for a right shooting, crease-clearing RD (like Mayfield), and we'd have a very hard team to play against.
If, instead, we go with the logic that we only need one or two new players, and we bring back the same non-performing clock punchers who threw in the towel last year, making a big trade for a top end talent like Draisatl, or signing a big name free agent like Tavares, isn't going to matter. Those guys can't do it all on their own.
We need change. Not for the sake of change alone, but to change the culture.

if we were to get tavares and drai our cap would be some trouble. The problem with moving parayko is that our Defense would be below average. Mayfield is an interesting option, although I doubt Islanders move him. A top 6 of Schenn, schwartz, draisait, steen, kyrou/thomas, and berglund/sobotka with petro and parayko should be playoff worthy. Tarasenko is an elite scoring winger, but to be honest with kyrou and thompson up and coming I would rather keep Parayko as right handed defenseman are very valuable.

Drai has more points than Vlad in each of the past two seasons. He’s also considerably younger. In light of this, Edmonton would likely say no to a strait-up trade. Now, if you were to add Porayko and the oilers were to add the rights to Darnell Nurse, well, we might be able to do business.

In the past two years Tarasenko has more 5v5 points, 20 more 5v5 goals and if you go by advanced stats, Tarasenko's GS is way higher and rel GF% shows him to be a top 10 player in the league. Draisaitl is very good, but Tarasenko is an elite scoring winger who can drive play on his own line.

Draisatl is just carried by McDavid when he can center his own line then something can happen but he is a lazy player that is overpaid
