He has under preformed but you don’t trade a 21 year old center who averaged more then a point a game in the AHL away for that.

Arizona likely will say a hard “no” to that trade. Perhaps if you retained some salary (say, 1.5M) and swapped the fourth for a prospect (say, Benson) they might be more amenable.

Also, you’re relying on young d-men very heavily; history has shown that one or perhaps two of Jones, Bear, and Boqvist will pan out. To assume that they’ll all make the show and contribute is very risky.

All of their development curves suggest them all being at least 3rd pairing defenseman. I would much rather they get Bouchard, Dobson, Hughes, Smith, or Wahlstrom over Boqvist, but if he's there I think they will take him.

The management of the Coyotes typically overpays for veteran players and they have shown a lot of interest in Sekera.
