I believed that San Jose was in the race for tavares before signing Kane.

Now that he's signed, I don't believe it's gonna happen. They don't really have the cap space to afford him.
Tavares can't sign 8 years in San Jose, and unless taxes are really really low in San Jose, 9M/years won't make it.

I we still have the room for Tavares. We just have to be ready to make some room for him. Buying out Martin, Trading Boedker, Karlsson and letting DeMelo walk. We can fill those spots with other players and still give Tavares $11M.
