BUF/ANA trades for righties

Created by: TanSor
Team: 2018-19 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 4, 2018
Published: Jun. 5, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Buffalo gets a replacement for Risto in Spurgeon and a possession power forward in Nino who could replace Reinhart's production. They also get their 63OA pick back, helping in their draft this year. The Wild get a young physical defenseman who is defensively responsible and a young right shot forward who can contribute now. It's possible the Wild would have to swap Nino for Zucker.

Anaheim gets a scoring center who would put up at least 30 goals and a physical left wing to bolster their left side. This would help them in their attempt to get another Stanley Cup with Getzlaf and Perry after a disappointing first round exit this year, especially with Kesler's injury. Anaheim also gets a 1st round pick to help for their future. The Wild get an exciting young right shot forward, and two picks to help with their draft.

Zero interest in trading one of risto and reino, let alone both especially just to get older with players who can't be controlled as long.

You're comfortable having Koivu and Coyle as the Wild's top two centers?

Thanks for the input guys, what does Buffalo need? If the Sabres and Wild were to center a trade around Risto and Spurgeon, what else would they have to include? Sounds like Reinhart is untouchable, so what about Spurgeon + 63OA pick + something else like Olofsson/another pick/Foligno for Risto + late round pick (rounds 4-7)?

I think Koivu had a terrible year offensively but will bounce back to an extent next year. Coyle really suffered this year with breaking his leg and having both wrists broken, but if he's healthy I think he is ready to be a second line player. You could easily swap Rakell in for the second line center or in this case Reinhart (though from other comments it sounds like there's no way Buffalo trades him). There are plenty of options besides Coyle, and if the Wild kept Nino (as I mention in this post above) they could move him for a center.

MNBassman suggested Risto, Olofsson, Cliff Pu, a 2nd for Jason Zucker and Jared Spurgeon. I’d be very on board with that. Zucker adds the speed element that Buffalo needs, that Nino doesn’t quite have

I would love to have Rakell but Anaheim would be dumb to move him. He'd be great on this team

I have seen that, personally I'm not a fan of moving Zucker because Minnesota needs his speed too. We got much slower last year and losing Zucker makes us slower. It would be an interesting trade though! I like Cliff Pu as a prospect.

I agree, I don't see them actually moving him but I feel they'd think about this one, especially with Kesler's uncertain future. Staal is a legit C who would likely be close to Rakell's production. He's older, but Anaheim's current cup window is closing with Getzlaf and Perry not getting any younger. They'd have centers of Getzlaf, Staal, and Henrique (if Kesler is out) which has to be top 5 in the league. Foligno and our first is icing on the cake. I absolutely love Rakell on the Wild, he's the type of player we need. Young, electric, has a great scoring touch, and he's a right shot. We'd be giving up a lot to get him but he's worth it.

No chance the ducks move Rakell. 30+ goals a year at 3.8M for 4 more years. He’s in the untouchable category with the stars of the game just based on the contract he signed.

If Fletcher had drafted Rakell instead of Zack f'ing Phillips, he might still have a job.

You're probably right. I'm looking back at that draft right now and man it was actually stacked. Funny to see that Landeskog leads the list in scoring over Kucherov, Gaudreau, and Scheifele
