Carlson will need at minimum 7M, those defense pairings look god awful, Grubauer will want more money, Wilson will want more term, and that trade is terrible for the caps. Why trade a guy who played the whole season in the nhl WITH a second round pick for a defenseman you didn’t even put on the roster?

Djoos has 21 playoff games under his belt at 23 years old, and the Caps aren't short on left handed defensemen. Djoos and a 2nd should bring back Andersson and Bennett. Maybe the Caps throw in UFA rights to Chiasson, but my goodness have I seen a lot of Kylington to Washington trades on this board as if Johansen doesn't exist.

Yeah there’s just no reason to trade Djoos for another defenseman unless it’s someone of the Subban or Karlsson caliber (and that would obviously need to be part of a much larger package). I’d do Djoos and a second for Bennett, but it’s just a trade that doesn’t need to happen given the forward depth the caps have. The caps have a lot of trading assets this summer, so I’m interested to see what happens.
