I agree that you need more than 9 and 26 for 3, but I think Hayes > Lindgren compensates

Lindgren is a third string goalie, Hayes is a 27 goal scoring 24 year old 6’5 220+ pound forward but sure they cancel out

IMO, Montreal doesn't drop out of the top three or four because they are getting a 99% chance of getting a very good player. Pick 9, more of gamble and too long develop. Especially for Hayes not worth the gamble for Montreal. Montreal might be able to sign a UFA such as Bozak for about Hayes money and keep their pick.

Why do Lindgren (and McCarron and Fucale) get mentioned in so many Habs trades? Almost meaningless in NHL trade value.

Lindgren adds nothing. Switch Hayes with Sponner or Nams and its more plausible.

I personally think that this would be a great trade, montreal could pick two centers (kotkaniemi & veleno) or a center and someone to fill the LHD position (kotkaniemi & Sandin) at the same time the rangers have an elite winger that can play top line on a rebuilding team. However, since NYR are rebuilding i don't see why they would trade two first for one... but at the sane time rumors says theyre going for Kovalchuk so anything can happen.
