Description
Trying to figure out some draft stuff. Let me know!

Detroit wants to move Ouellet and their 6th. Montreal is reportedly really high on Kotkaniemi, but the optics of taking him #3ovr are beyond terrible. If they're confident enough that he'd be there 3 spots back, do both teams make this trade?

Flush it out a bit, I don't want just a deadpan no. Ouellet is a French LHD, which is pretty close to bang on what Montreal is looking for outside of a #1C. Still has some upside given his age. They're moving back 3 spots, not to the back of the draft.

Ouellet is worth a late round pick generally from what I’ve gathered on this site. I don’t think any team will be using a 6th round pick to move up 3 spots at the very top of the draft. Picks are given exponentiall more value the closer you get to the top of the draft. If Montreal wants Ouellet all they would have to do is offer Detroit a mid round pick, probably get him just with a 6th

Okay, I can work with that. How far out is it? Are we talking adding a 3rd round pick or more? Upgrading one of Montreal's seconds? I have this suspicion that this could be one of the early deals at the draft.

Close enough for me. I like the deal. Take Jordie Benn with that and I'm almost ready to sign...

I’m no expert on the value difference between 3rd and 6th, I guess it is different if Montreal has a guy they are really targeting. I just figure MTL would be able to get another high pick if they move back. I’m sure they could trade the 3 with NyI for the 11 and 12. So Ouellete one of their picks in the 30 range and the 6 oa for the 3 would be what I think

Willing to take rights to Mantha for a 2nd and Scherbak on top of that. Good for thought...

This is probably close on value. Not sure if the Wings do it in this case but it’s possible

Martha isn’t in the conversation unless it’s 1 for 1 for that 3rd overall and we both know the Habs aren’t doing that

let's imagine Carolina take Zadina... Detroit could certainly try to go for Svec Bros reunion!
so AA + 6OA Kotkeniemi for 3OA Svech + Lekhonen is more fair and Detroit gets a NHL ready player at least.
Ouellet for McCaron... two AHL swap.
Fair enough on both side for me fitting MTL needs at C
