We Have Great D Prospects - So Let's Play Them!

Description
Trying to keep things realistic without taking on terrible RFA contracts or high priced declining players (i.e. Zuc / Patches etc.) . Cgy may not have any picks but they do have strong NHL ready D prospects and it is time to make room for them to play. Camp will determine if it is Kylington or Valimaki who wins the position but for now based on last year's AHL season I have gone with Oliver.

Toronto could use a RHS D & Stone (28) can slot in from 4-6 and is quite useful on the PP and doesn't have the Leafs parting with a top 6 forward. Lazar is added to balance the value.

Montreal needs a LHD to play beside Weber and Brodie is perfect for this. While Galchenyuk isn't a right shot, he can play RW and would be a great fit on the top line.

NYR wants Adam Fox. I still believe Bennett has been mismanaged by Gulutzan and as a former 4 OA at only 21 I am hesitant to trade him but he would be an ideal pc for the Ranger rebuild. Brower with a retained salary is a useful 4th line character guy to mentor the young Rangers team.

All with room left to sign Tkachuck and make some moves if an opportunity arises.

I've been trying to think about how Kylington might fit into the lineup as well. I agree that there is immense value in getting some of these young guys experience. Andersson is already arguably ready for a Top 4 role, and his development would be immense to play in that position next season. Can Andersson play his offside? If so, he's highest on the "young gun depth chart" right now, so pairing with Hamonic would make sense.

Kulak is the bonafide #3 guy on the left side...so how does that all work?

I agree that CGY needs to leave some room (read: make some room by moving Brodie) to give Andersson, Valimaki, and Kylington a chance to compete for roster spots.

Also love that Galchenyuk trade. MTL fans will probably get upset by it, but it's spot on with market value. I don't see TOR making that trade, unfortunately. I love Brown and think he'd be a great long-term fit in CGY on the RW side. Stone + Foo might get the conversation further down the road, who knows.

Hayes would be a great addition. I like that Jankowski stays in the roster, though I'd be tempted to try him on the wing with Shore as the dedicated 4C.

I think Valimaki will probably need at least one year in the A so didn't think it was reasonable to hope both him and Kylington made the jump this year. Was worried about the Brown trade - putting Foo in the package seems counter intuitive as we need to groom the few right hand shooting wingers we have.

Wanted to improve the bottom 6 depth and with Janko centering Frolik and Mangipane I wouldn't have to cringe every time the fourth line played (they would actually be a contributing line with speed). Maybe add Shore to the Brown trade along with Lazar to address the value issue?

I believe you are overvaluing Hayes. I would have him straight up for Fox, or the combo Bennett&Brouwer. What is he bringing that Bennett doesn't? They are pretty close already, and we believe Bennett still has huge potential if he ever gets it together. And frankly, why am I interested in trading Fox? Unless we get a dramatic over offer he's staying.
