On one hand, I do appreciate the placement of Galchenyuk at centre. On the other, I have several issues with this roster.
      1. Petry > Weber. He's stronger defensively and in transition, and is a better passer in the offensive zone.
      2. That left side is atrocious. I'm not willing to bet our 1LD slot on a guy who hasn't even put up a gp in the AHL.
      3. Domi is in no way worth both Hudon and Lehkonen. Lehkonen's a 20-goal guy if he stays healthy and gets some decent luck, and Hudon's similar. They're also both great playdrivers: the Lehkonen-Plekanec-Hudon line led the Habs in xG% and CF% when they were together. Domi's a solid playmaking 2LW, but he isn't much more, and either Lehkonen or Hudon would be fine as 2LW.
      4. Byron should be playing over Scherbak, given that Byron scored 20 last year.
      5. Deslauriers and De La Rose are forwards without offence who are in the process of busting.

Ultimately, I appreciate the use of Galchenyuk at C, but the team's biggest problem (D) has not been addressed and the teams best assets to address it have been squandered. I am unimpressed.

tavares will be at least 12 million and you need a more experience LD.

If the islanders sign tavares, they will ask waayyyy more than that in return.
Just look at what you ask for pacioretty in comparaison of what the isl are getting for JT...

If I'm Montréal, Id prefere to keep Lehkonen 2nd Hudon than getting domi at this price.

He is. Gets more takeaways and gets the puck moving in the right direction on the ice. His mistakes look nastier due to his aggressive playstyle, but his ability to drive possession and shut down opposing possessions quickly outweighs Weber's skillset.

its a sign and trade. in this mtl dictates the value. not the isles. because its tavares camp saying that we want to go to mtl.

1.) Weber is mucccccchh better then petry. yes petry is a pmd, but he is not a stud like weber. weber is a world class elite defenseman. petry is a top 25 d-man in the league.
2.) bean will be excellent with weber. mete will mature more. he already impressed us with his defensive and offensive capabilities as a rookie. he will only get better. rielly is a great bottom pairing d-man with an offensive flair. him and juulsen will make an excellent combo.
3.) domi is a top 10 pick, so he is loaded with potential. its a risky trade, but well worth it. he's a 60 point guy. lehkonen and hudon arent. imo its worth the risk.
4.) byron has 2 20 goal seasons while playing on the 3rd line. i like him there. he adds great depth. scherbak has good chem with galchenyuk, and he has top 6 potential.
5.) idk if u watched the habs play last year, but both delaurais and de la rose are excellent depth and role players. both can skate well, and are physical. de la rose was amazing at the world championships and is only 22. which team doesn't want a 22 year old 2-way forward who is 6"3 skates well and plays physical.

I dont think a sign and trade will work... why would tavares just not let everyone bid on him.... it is totally to his advantage.... he is either going to free agency or lou convinces him to re-sign with the islanders.... love the idea though but i think it is to wishful in nature

I think Tavares knows his value. If he sees a fair offer in a sign and trade scenario, he'll take it. I think he'll wait for July 1 before signing, but he's not an idiot. If the right scenario comes along, he'll take it.

but where does he want to play....he wants to win and mtl and tor might not be strong enough... he really is a crapshot... i hope bergevin has other plans in mind because we better not get caught with a lot of cap space and no one to spend it on agsin
