You forgot to sign Shea Theodore and I wouldn't trade Vegas' two best defense prospects either. I'd be more inclined to trade one or the other and include 2019 or 2020's first.

I know this team did great this year and there is this natural reaction to build it more but they just don't have the load of prospects to just trade a bunch like that. I like karlsson too but he'll end up costing another 10 million to resign too. theodore, Schmidt and miller provide a pretty good offensive trio. Sign john carlsson instead and move theodore or miller after for depth.

Because John Carlson is going to leave Washington after winning the cup...

Those 3 d-men might provide the offense but they need a number 1 d-man in general who can do just about everything. That was the one thing they lacked all year and finally got burned on it in the finals.

Why would they move a young puck moving D-man in Theodore? Did he have a rough finals? Yes. No reason to move the kid. He's only going to get better.

yes carlsson might leave Washington there are stories all over that the money could be more elsewhere. its not crazy to think he could capitalize on his best season. I like theodore but if you bring in karlsson or carlsson the money will be tight so moving one of the other d for other assets could help. You'll have to pay nate Schmidt too next year.

I don't see him leaving. He can get his $7 mill plus a year from Washington. The caps just have to get rid of Orpiks contract and they will be fine. Plus the salary cap is going to go up as well.

So you move a potential top 2 dman for future assets that might not even live up to expectations? That's bad managing. Almost as bad as the Erat for Forsberg trade. I would fire GMGM on the spot if he did a bone head trade like that and I was the owner.

They have $24 million in cap space plus whatever the cap goes up to. They could have close to $30 mill in space. They just have to be smart and not overpay anyone.
