There isnt any point to making this trade. I think I would rather have Matthews and Reilly than OEL and Strome. I don't think Reilly will be better offensively than OEL but I think he'll be a better 2 way defenseman. Matthews vs. Strome is a no contest.

Agreeing with Matt_Tea here, This doesn't seem like an upgrade or even fair trade at all. If there is a trade to happen OEL and Rielly won't be included. Would be Matthews for a collection of picks and players (ie. 2016 1st round picks, Domi, Strome, Duclair, Perlini).

If the leafs do decide to trade the first overall I would like to see Dvorak and two first rounders coming the other way. I would consider Domi but I dont think it would be smart for the coyotes to start trading away all their best wingers. Matthews needs someone to play with.

For me this trade doesn't make sense. OEL is and will be way better than Rielly both offensively and defensively. Regardless if you agree or not, Matthews is the type of talent you draft and keep. His potential is too high to trade away unless you are sure you are coming out ahead.

The Leafs lose big on this deal. OEL has only 3 years before UFA, and to trade Reilly for him? No way from Toronto. Matthews is deemed superior than Stome, so the Leafs wouldn't make that deal either.
Matthews for Strome and more could be a deal though for any NHL team, the more Arizona's first pick (and maybe more)
