I’m lost in how you think the Habs would even consider that trade.

Not sure why the Panthers would do this, overpaying for Patches and a salary dump in Alzner which they don’t need with the signing of Bogdan.

You act like Patches wouldn’t be the best scorer that teams seen in the past 10 years (check the resume). He is instantly their best winger, best goal scorer and could play on the top unit of their PK and PP.

For a winger/Center that barely gets 50 points a year? Or the two no name prospects ? and 5th round pick?

Ow but let’s not forget that we’re also sending Alzner, a second round pick and a 3rd round pick. Im not even an Alzner fan I can still tell you that he is an NHL defenceman, not an elite one but would still play every game in Florida.

This trade is insanely one sided. You don’t trade an elite left winger, one of the NHLs best left wingers for three players that will never eclipse 60 points, possibly combined.

For 1 yr of Patches? I don’t care if he scores 50 goals still not worth one year of his services now if we have a cap friendly extension in place then yes it becomes worth it. Again you can keep Alzner and his big cap hit. We don’t need nor want it.

You can have your opinion but to think the value is off is wrong. Look at what Rick Nash got at the trade deadline last year

Never said they value was off, stating I wouldn’t pay all that for a player I can get at the trade deadline for cheaper or next off season without giving up young talent.

Exactly. People can undervalue Pacioretty all they want, they'll be crying like babies once they see the 1st rounder ultimately coming our way with a prospect, if the Habs want young pieces. If the Habs want a help right now player they'll get good player without having to add Alzner and picks to it.

Montreal wouldn't do this In a million years. It makes no sense. What good is cap space if we can't use it on anyone like Tavares, etc!

You realize that you just made zero sense right? Rick Nash got a better return by himself at the deadline. You won’t get him cheaper at the deadline, he will cost more then that BY HIM SELF now and at the trade deadline.

The trade market is set, Florida would never get Patches for that price.

Then we don’t get him, would be nice but not necessary.
