Embracing the rebuild

Created by: MTWings
Team: 2018-19 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2018
Published: Jun. 14, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Draft Strategy: Draft Bouchard at 6, trade up from 30 to 7 to take Wahlstrom. End up with 3 picks in first 3 rounds instead of 5 but net two impact players, freed cap space to pursue top-end players in 2019 free-agency after Kronwall and Howard come off of books. If out of playoff spot in February, can move Nyquist and Daley for picks/prospects.

    1. 2018 3rd round pick (DET)
    Additional Details:
(3rd round pick is early in the round which might allow this to work since I presume Washington is going to try to at least get a 2nd.)

Wings laugh & say hell no to caps & coyotes offers..then blocks their phone #s..wings will sign UFA goalie NOT trade assets for one & will NOT trade assets to move Ericsson unless multiple D kids move on main roster or acquire Stud D ..wings will let Ericsson $ expire or trade him 4 assets retaining some $ on cap to sweeten a deal

Grubauer is 26 and probably the best option to acquire instead of someone like Halak. Unless Fulcher is ready in 1 or 2 years, this is a smart move to have someone replace Howard who is young. Ericsson has zero value except to remove his contract, even if it means paying a pick just to get rid of him. Keeping him for 2 more years at his contract is not ideal when there is a log-jam of D that need time to play.

Doesn't matter what YOU think...what I stated is what Redwings management thinks..wings are NOT trading assets.. They're collecting assets.. Do some research find their quotes listen to their interviews let alone NHL insiders.. UFA goalie only.. & won't use assets to sell Ericsson.. Sorry..too bad for you ..pay attention to the team more & you'll be more understanding of their views & path going forward.. Cheers

Unless you work for the team, quotes aren't 100%. Management isn't always going to show their cards and plans can always change if the right deal comes along. Certain players also become available after teams make initial assessments of their own personnel.

You are also forgetting that this forum is called Armchair GM, in other words, building the team through one's own perspective. Otherwise, what's really the point of mimicking what bad management already has done. This is a create your own team so to speak so there is nothing wrong with dealing in hypotheticals.

True its fun GM site...but when I try to enlighten you to what the teams path is ..then u try to call me out or argue it when I'm just providing facts that casual fans r clueless too ..then u question my credibility ...and I'm trying to do you a favor cuz TOO MANY of these commenters will rip every posting to shreds to just be trolls ..I'm trying to save ya from future encounters with these morons.. As a wings fan ..the more we know ..we shut down these dumb trolls on here ..I'm not mad at ya.. But I like to help my wings fan brothers & sisters.. But if u don't want my help ..then good luck with the idiots here ..they're ignorant & factless.. All the best ..& still what I posted is what the wings path will be..from their own mouths.. Rock on.. Cheers
