Could see something similar in regards of trades. Don’t see kovy coming here to be dealt, if trades like this occurred I would see more money on a back up like Hutton who is rumored to be here and bring up Turgeon.

Man, can you explain WHY would Kovy come back to the NHL only to sign with a team that has absolutely no chance of winning the cup?? He's not going to sign with any team that can't compete. Options are Kings, Blues or some other team with the space to get him for a few years. It's not gonna be Arizona, Rangers and surely not the Wings that sign him.

Well simply enough to have a choice where you wanna go at the deadline. I would definitely expect a NTC to be added to the deal so he would have the best chance at landing with the right team.

Kovi will go to a team that has a chance. If he really was going to take a chance and go to a bad team so he could pick a team at the deadline, its too ballsy.. Here are the reasons why he cant take that risk... 1) does the non-competitive team he picks have the pieces to still make him a successful player? your only as good as the guys around you... 2) what happens when you get to the deadline and the 6 teams he picks dont have CAP space? 3) is Detroit willing to move him and retain salary OR accept a bad contract in return... example, Tampa wants Kovi, Detroit takes what? A first round pick from a playoff team (22-26 overall) and Ryan Callahan's contract to make room? Detroit wouldnt do that.. which leaves Kovalchuk in Detroit and golfing during the playoffs.
