Pass on Cole, don't need him. Orlov-Djoos-Kempny are all better. Plus he'll cost more than $2M.

Kempny will get more than Cole this summer

Five stars for having the courage to play Orpik one more year after an amazing playoff performance.

Kempny won a Cup more recently and could cost more than Cole. If Cole is at 2M, I think he's got more NHL experience than Kempny. twice as much offense, twice as many Cups, but only a third as many shot blocks, which was a real strength for the Caps.

Here's a change of perspective from cheering for a team that just won the championship: they don't need to specifically go out and pay extra for someone who knows what it's like to win a championship.

Djoos and Stephenson together have as much Cup winning experience as Ian Cole. Cole could get 4M per year as a UFA for it. He stops being the right fit for the Caps above 2.

4 stars for almost making it work. Problem is you have to have at least 21 guys on the bench so you're one short and out of cap space.

Ever heard of a two-way deal, or maybe a trade?

He presented a team, if it's not complete, say that, otherwise assume it's complete.

Ness re-signed at 650. He can be re-called whenever. Would love to have cap space to call up forwards for road trips, too, but why worry?

Cole is not the type of dman the Caps need. Keep Kempny, trade Burakovsky, and then there's enough cap space to bring up a couple more players to complete the roster.

Also, Boyd probably gets $800K or so.
