This looks a lot like the Ryan Miller deal we made - and that deal didn't work well for us. We would have to be cup favorites at the deadline to make this move, otherwise we would forever remember when we lost Kyrou to rent Bob (or we have to give Bob the Carey Price deal to prevent it from being a rental). And based on way-too-early projections, the Blues won't be cup favorites with next year's roster.

As a blues fan, I might have to say deal. Hard to give up Kyrou AND 2019 1st. If it was 2018 1st (pick 29) then we have a deal

Valuations for the signed RFAs are spot on. Cole could probably be signed for $3M - $3.5M, but someone out there would probably pay more.
The 2019 team cap salary shows $64M.
Even at $80M cap, they will be hard pressed to sign Panarin, Werenski, Korpisalo, & Milano without making other salary clearance moves.

You would like to think that GMJK does not take any action in FA until all internal pieces are locked up. Only JT would be considered more valuable than Bread or Z. Possible valuations for Bread ($8.5M) and Z ($6.75M) leaves as you stated very little to sign other RFA/UFAs in 2019. I see do not see how Milano has not requested a trade yet. You could qualify him and see what happens. Since I am never going to be a GM, my opinion is worthless, but Cole is a luxury along with Boone that can be shipped as a very decent package.

It works. I also don't think Z will sign for more than 6M - there's no way they give him more than what Jones made (in cap %) on his second deal.

And if further cap maneuvering needs to be done in the future...any of Foligno, Savard, Jenner, Berglund and Allen could all be moved to or bought out to make it work in 2020-21. We'll have Gavrikov, Merzlikins, Texier, etc. ready by then.

I like the moves but I’d love to see us flip Allen to someone like buffalo or NY islanders for picks or something. Never been a fan of Allen’s inconsistent play.

In this case, I’d want to hold on to him for at least a year since there’s no one behind Korpisalo. Next season we’d be able to move his contract to make room for a battle between Korpisalo and Elvis.

I’d be ok with switching the picks
