not insane...its actually more close than i initially thought. just not sure if the length of that Alzner contract will be worth it for the loss of ROR. Maybe MTL can retain a little bit

Not much cap left for Sabres, but you have helped Habs cap.

I'd say it is insane. Montreal needs a 1st line center, but it's not worth giving up a talent like Zadina or Tkachuk.

Maybe worth giving up Tkachuk. (Who it looks like they are in love with apparently)

Sabres would be fine cap wise

Here’s my thought process:
Montreal needs center help (obviously). They’re not going to find it at 3, and taking a defenseman over Zadina would be irresponsible (IMO). Take advantage of that pick’s value by giving it to a team that is pretty much starting over, and in exchange you get the best center your team has had in years, plus you dump two bad contracts. Domi sweetens the pot for Buffalo because his WJC chemistry with Reinhart could help jumpstart both of their young careers.

Fair point. See my explanation above and tell me what you think.

well said, I think it is a pretty fair trade overall. Personally, I would have MTL retain a little of Alzner's contract and have Buffalo give back a 3rd and a 4th. But overall, not a bad trade

Oops, looks like someone got fooled by the classic Habs smoke screen. We all know he’s taking French-Canadian defenseman Evan Bouchard. That’s what the die-hard fans would want...

Marc, how is Linda Lapointe? She gets better looking every time I see her. I am glad to help you out, Domi will be a great addition to the team. I will take your two cap dumps because the total is only $1,000,000 more than O'Reilly. If I decide to wait a year to bring to the NHL who ever I draft at #3 their contracts will expire the same year as my draftee. BTW, they may be over paid but Alzner is going to be better than...well you know who you sent me last year.
As usual five stars for taking O'Reilly.
Let's make a deal!!! cheers

I understand your reasoning and there are some good pieces to it. Shaw could be a good addition to Buffalo's bottom 6 and Alzner would be good defensive depth. Personally, it's Domi and 3 OA I can't see getting moved. Obviously they just got Domi and are likely committed to using him in their lineup. As for the pick, it would be incredibly shortsighted by Montreal to hand a division rival a second Top 3 pick. They'd be trading out of the first round completely and Montreal needs high end prospects, regardless of position. This is an interesting idea, but I think that there are better ways to fix the problem (sorry for the long response)
