I voted no, the price is great but the term is too short, Habs have cap space to lock younger players up - unless Tavares has verbally promised Bergevin that he is going to sign in July, there is no point saving the extra million if they could have locked him up to a longer deal at closer to 4 million for example. Maybe it has to do with RFA status at the end of the deal ...

It’s 100% RFA status... he’ll still have value when the contracts up

In that case I change my vote to maybe leaning toward yes ...

I'm fine with that contract. 2 years is okay giving the circumstance that Domis season wasn't the greatest. We will see how it turns out.

Also worth remembering that Montreal is targeting more than just tavares in Free agency and that 1 million is quite a chunk of change and can make a big difference

Montreal fans who think that this entire offseason is centered around the potential signing of a UFA who may not even hit the market and has much better options for winning right now is just hysterical

Good deal. Still doesn’t mean the trade for him was any good.

So. If you trade a $4.9M player for one you only value at $3.2M, doesn't that imply you left $1.7M on the table in that trade? Sticking Out Tongue

Sort of a Bridge contract. See what he is before he signs him

Habs now have 4 first found selection from this draft year.

Drouin, Rychel, McCarron and Domi.

I liked this signing a lot, only 2 years but I'll see how he fits in Montreal.

That does seem pretty cheap for Domi but I guess it is a bridge deal.
