You never know. DIfferent GMs have different needs and perspectives. Had anyone on the Arizona board suggested trading Max Domi to get Alex Galchenyuk 1-for-1, they might well have been told that "Montreal declines laughing".

Buffalo has a lot of money invested in O'Reilly. They could use some of that back, while getting a good young winger, and the 3OA pick. I'm not sure they would decline. They might, but they might not.

As for the Edmonton deal, I think Montreal is offering too much. Drouin is younger than RNH, earns less, and has more years left on this contract. I think RNH could be a good 2C for the Habs, but they will have to find another path to acquire him, IMO.

Perhaps the Habs could trade the 3OA and a 2R pick to the NYI for their two 1R picks, then package each of the first rounders (11OA and 12OA) to Buffalo and Edmonton along with a good roster player.

I know this is sacrilege with Buffalo fans, but I think you could prob get ROR for a little less.

the NYI is absurd. No way a top prospect gets dealt for a goalie that was never drafted...

FACT: goalies don't have much value. When was the last time a goalie trade was made that involved top notch prospects? One of the best was traded for a pair of 2nd line wingers and a mid level prospect.

This is how I see the trade, if you see it differently please comment:
Larsson, J =< 2018 3rd round pick (MTL)
O'Reilly, R =< 2018 1st round pick (MTL) + Juulsen, N.
McCabe, J > Lehkonen, A.
So slight favorite for Montreal. I really welcome comments to help me to determine the value of players.
