Habs major trade

Description
Before everyone starts hating let me explain the trade.

First one, if Pacioretty had the same amount of years remaining on the contract it would be a 1 for 1 trade cause him and Eichel and Dhalin is going to be deadly. But since he has only 1 year remaining, I added a second round pick that would be given back next year if pacioretty stays in Buf!

Second trade:
Karlson has to be traded avec everything that happened, his value is very high but not the highest because of the Hoffman situation and the fact he has only 1 year left. Ott has been trying to get rid of ryan contract and Mtl can help out. But Alzner contract will need to go the other way and ott will need some Def anyway. So we give out Lekhonen who is still prettt young and after an okay second season, pretty sure he will have his best ever next year so a 20+ goals season. Check his advance stats from last year, he had the most A quality chances of the team just was not lucky at all. He also is very good in his own defensive zone. Fucale is juste a plus. Ott get a 2019 first round that will replace the one they will lose to colorado and mtl adds a second round this year to compensate for the ryan retained salary.

I know having plek as third center is not the best but with all the trades, they wont be able to offer enough for a better third line player.

Buffalo easily passes. A pending 30 year old UFA, a bust and a late 2nd wont cut it. We will get better offers and dont have to move O'Reilly. Obviously we wont add a conditional pick

Like the desire to acquire O'Reilly and the faith in Lehkonen. I do have some issues with this team though.
1. The good points about Lehkonen indicate he has a large amount of ACTUAL value, however his poor boxcar numbers will suppress his PERCEIVED value. Pierre Dorion, who believed the Sens were contenders after they lucked their way to a conference final, will be operating off of the latter. Hence, trading Lehkonen to OTT will not be a good call.
2. Riddler and Seinfeld are right that that's a nasty trade for BUF. O'Reilly's really good. That said, the Karlsson deal's an overpay given that he's a pending UFA. Add MTL's 2018 first and Byron to the Sabres trade and keep Lehkonen to fill the hole Byron leaves.
3. Get Bobby Ryan out of the top-six. He's a 4th liner who is monstrously overpaid.
4. Plekanec probably costs $3 million, but he's a solid middle-six centre.
5. Dmen's effectiveness is significantly reduced when playing their off sides (For RHDs like Karlsson, the off side is LD) in most cases. Read: Trade for Klefbom instead.

Thx for sharing you opinion on this post!! But I believe adding the third overall pick and byron plus pacioretty is a major over pay for O'reilly. Also ottawa would never accept the the trade with out lekhnonen, they will get many other better offers. Also I do believe Ryan COULD bounce back with a new team and become at least a 20 + goal scorer. So I would give him a chance on the second line before finishing him up on the fourth line.

Okay so what if the conditional pick is only if he signs a new contract and he scores more then 30 goals if not we add an other second round pick in 2019 or 2020. Because if pacioretty goes back to being a 30 goal scorer again, I don't see why this would be a horrible trade for Buf!

Don't listen to these guys, I like your trade for O'Reilly. I dont get the big fuss people think he is worth the 3rd overall pick ++.. he is good, the perfect 2nd line two-way center, but not gonna give up an elite prospect while taking on $7.5M at the same time. Pacioretty is an elite goal scorer. To get this done the conditional pick might have to be a 1st though (could be top 10 protected to become a 2nd if Montreal sucks again). If pacioretty walks and all buffalo is left with is a 2nd round pick, that would really sting.

On the other hand, if I'm buffalo, I'm going for JVR, Neal, Nash, Vanek, Kovalchuk, Perron etc. Before I give up O'Reilly for pacioretty.

I don't think ottawa trade is realistic.

I don't think Lehkonen adds much value to the OTT trade from Dorion's perspective (I don't think he's smart enough to see Lehkonen's value). O'Reilly's crazy good. Positive Corsi on a godawful team in HEAVY defensive usage (42.6 oZS%). I am also really hesitant to have faith in Ryan, and I haven't seen any evidence with OTT that his struggles are going to end.
