No thanks, not interested in Kessel (at that price or any) or helping you guys out.

I respect that. Just going off reports that Yzerman may go big this offseason.

how is that helping us out foote is a phenomenal prospect but thats all he is really done nothing in nhl to prove he is worth kessel. Jt miller is a nice player but for 1.3 million more we have kessell big no thanks.

like the sheary trade some of the free agent signings might be a tad low but not bad

I could see Kessel being traded, but I could see it to a different team that does not have the players to sign soon. I posted what I would love to see the Lightning do that would provide flexibility for a cup run in 2018 with contracts that will drop off and movement of salary. I believe there are core players and prospects they should keep for the foreseeable future and do what Pittsburgh has done in moving players on expiring contracts or letting them leave and promoting within surrounding the core players. I just don't see them tying up more money with a move where it does not free up money for the guys currently. I think Kessel is going to start on his decline and Miller has some years on him. I actually forgot to re-sign him on my Arm-GM, but I could see them possibly moving him to get a mid-late first round pick back.

MIller is not signed yet, but I don't see Kessel staying at the level that he has. I think if they do want to keep Miller likely ($5Mx2-3) they can do it cheaper than Kessel ($8Mx4) and that he has alot of better years left.

I like this idea except for the Grabner signing. Rust would slot in 3RW and that's Grabner's off wing, not to mention an over payment for him. The contracts (Sprong, Simon, etc.) would need some tweaking but it's not bad.

yes the Penguins are going to give up a 90 point player who has done nothing but score goals and win in Pittsburgh for TJ Miller.

1.) Kessel won’t break 90+ points again. This season was a statistical anamoly for him. Especially if this little feud with him and Mike Sullivan continues. He’d be a 75-85 point player in TB and supercharge their power play.
2.) J.T. Miller is younger, can play wing and center, all the while, grow into a 70ish point player on a reasonable long term contract.
3.) Cal Foote is a phenomenal defensive prospect who could easily make the team and make trading Letang easier and more palatable.
4.) All in all, we still get more cap space to resign key free agents for the 19-20 season (ie guentzel and ZAR)
    jshherman liked this.

i meant the offer he signed miller to.

kessel is at 6.8 with leafs retention on contract. i can easily see kessel staying at a 70 to 80 point player and easily out scoring miller

Fully agree with this. I just don't see the Lightning making this trade.

by your own admission. Pens give up a guy you see putting up 85 points for a guy who puts up 50 some points a year, and a prospect. Wow, way to help them win now in closing window.

seriously TB fan, your not fleecing anyone. Then Penguins are not here to bump you to the cup because you couldn't get their on your own.
The Metro is the best division in hockey. Because you have teams like the Pens who have 3 of the best players in the sport on one team.
There is no need to change that any time soon. Surely not for such a bad trade. We aren't going to trade a guy who would have scored 100pts if not for being moved down to the 3rd line for a chunk of time to get a less talented winger for a whopping 1.3 mil in cap space. Yeah great move.

Lol. I'm a Penguins fan. I'm just not allergic to looking to the future like most Pens fans.

I hate to break it to you. But every team in the league wishes they were in the Pens win now mode. This is exactly what you build a team for. Not for the future. People building for the future are in the basement of a division with no realistic chance to win a cup
