Description
With the news of CBJ testing the market for him...Just want to see what pens fans think of this... I mean, the guy would be almost a perfect fit on the left of Malkin... Do we have the assets to make this happen? Probably not but maybe leave an idea below?

I think I would trade Brass and Sheary straight up for Panarin.
CBJ needs center help.
The breadman's value isn't too high. Not because he's not a good player, but because he has 1 year. No one is giving up a ton for a guy on a 1 year deal that may leave. Not to mention his cap hit next year is going to be very high. I think his cap hit is more the issue than anything else.

If the Pens make that deal then they need center help with no money to fill that spot. Pens don't need the Breadman and CBJ would never trade him to them anyway

Yeah a lot of difficulty. I'd honestly stay away from Panarin unless penguins can negotiate some sort of deal where he has a verbal agreement to sign... A lot of risk

That's a really bad reason to not make that trade.
Pens are going to lose brass next season anyway. You would be swapping him for a superior player hands down. No one is going to confuse brass with the breadman.
You also wouldn't be in any different situation than you are now. The cap hit I had above is about even. It simply puts more value on a game changing winger than a 3C.
It also gives you the space to move Hagelin and use the cap space on a 3C

That's why I trade brass. Pens are in the exact same position with him anyway. He's gone next year. But CBJ could resign him so he has value to CBJ. So swap the same bad situation that is a possible fix for CBJ and gives the Pens a more talented player. Move hags and find a 3C. You would start Jake, Panarin, and ZAR on the left wing. That is a very nice LW set up. With Horny, Kessel, and Sprong on the RW. You can flip rust in there somewhere if need be. If not he's on the 4th line. Either way it's a nice set up, and allows you 3-4 mil to find a 3C.

I agree. Problem is GMJR seems to be stuck on the fact that Brassard fits better with us next year.... I'm not one to judge JR but that seems like a major dice roll. However, if we get decent value for Brassard and even can dump cap somehow im not against it. Mostly because I believe that Sheahan did MUCH better than Brassard at 3c. (I understand brassard came in late)

I agree, Sheahan did play better. I don't think GMJR is against moving Brass if there is a better fit he can find. I also think any team that takes him and doesn't make the playoffs is getting a 1st round pick at the trade deadline from a contender, so he has added value. I think we'll know by the start of the season.
