ewww that Avs trade. A 21 year old ppg RW and 4th overall. Breadman is an awesome talent but that is a super homer trade for a guy who might ask for the moon on his next contract.

You keep the younger and equally offensive talent and the much better draft pick.

These types of trades don't happen. Your #1 priority is to add a Line 1 wing or center. Keep Panarin.

You've got 1 year of control left over him before he becomes a UFA. If he doesn't resign with you, one would have to assume that he's going to want to test the market.

This makes Columbus a worse team now and in the future. We have no need for Spurgeon, and have more of a need for Savard’s physical presence. Josh Anderson isn’t a throw in.

He has one year left on his contract, so you are going to get rental prices, not one-for-one prices, and other teams know that Columbus is behind the eight-ball. They have to do something, or lose him for nothing. Both of those things mean that none of these scenarios can happen. I understand your thinking about talent levels, but you need to consider context. Columbus is not in a situation to win this trade. Its lose the trade by less than just losing him altogether.

I completely agree with your comments on the Ducks trade. That would essentially be three 1st for Panarin. That is a joke. If BM did that trade, he would be fired instantly. Rakell is a rising star that has back to back 30 goal seasons and is getting better, and his contract is ridiculous amazing for what he does. But in the Toronto trade, its Marner straight up haha. I think Rakell and Marner are on the same level at this point.

My concern is if Panarin won't sign an extension this year with CBJ, he probably won't sign an extension with any team... I think his goal is to hit free agency and get a huge payday, not to jump teams. So I'm starting to think that the most teams will pay is the rental price. For superstars, it's damn near impossible to figure out that value, but most teams won't give up their best players and their best prospects for 1 year.

Great player, but you won’t get these returns. I don’t care how good he is, one year is one year. It doesn’t matter what happens, Columbus loses. Unless they sign him in UFA because it seems he wants to test that. Either they trade him for rental price (way less than these trades and what he’s worth), or they lose him for nothing in UFA.
