Here is my thought process...
Ducks: Looking back to the cup winning team we had two elite HOF defensemen in Niedermayer and Pronger. Up front we had a speed line, a grinding line, a checking line, and an enforcer line so we could match up to any style of play. Adding speed up front with Grabner and bringing up Steel and Jones can round that out but bolstering the D is also essential. If you're going to go after that franchise D-Man then why not go after Karlsson. Fowler and Lindholm are great but let's face it, they're no Nieds and Prongs.

Sens: Why would you make this deal? 1. You're going to lose big K anyway so get as much as you can for him, right? 2. Perry at 8.75 is no bueno but a 50 point producing winger with previous cup experience and previous chemistry playing with your top six at 5mil is a bargain. 3. Ott has two 1st rounders this year but no 2nd or 3rd so a gaping hole in the farm. 4. Adding a promising D prospect bolsters the gap left by Big K's departure. They might get another 1st and a prospect from another team but that's not really what they need right now.

My logic could be flawed but I believe Perry still holds value at a lower price point.
