Created by: Jacketsman61
Team: 2018-19 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 18, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Essentially the Jackets and Leafs trade 1st round picks. The Jackets give up Panarin, Jenner(who is from the Toronto area) and Josh Anderson for Kadri, who not only improves our center depth but also gives us some toughness that the Jackets need. Also acquire William Nylander to be the replacement for Panarin, and Kapanen who Jarmo wanted to get a few years ago in the draft.

Even if you guarantee extensions for Panarin and Jenner I still feel like Toronto gets the shorter end of the deal. Interesting idea though

Not really Panarin is the best player in the deal. Panarin alone is worth more than Nylander. Add Kadri because he fits the need of the Jackets and the Jackets add Jenner to help offset Kadri. Jackets also move down in the draft and Toronto moves up possibly get a better shot at a RHD should one fall in the draft. Anderson gets added ease Toronto’s worry should Panarin be difficult to sign back. The Jackets get Kapanen as a way to help fill out the Jackets roster. Pretty even I think.

I also think Nylander's undervalued here. He's a play driving center. I in believe he was top ten in 5 on 5 scoring. I wouldn't accept that deal, but it is a creative solution to add skill, speed, and youth

I don't see Toronto doing this. No team is going to give up that much for a player who isn't coming with term.
expectations are way to high. Your going to get a minimal return on him if you move him. Everyone knows you want to dump him. Your best bet for a larger return is to either trade for players on a final year of a deal UFA. Or wait till the trade deadline. But no one is going to give anything up that isn't a salary cap dump or player they really don't want.
You should try the oilers I hear they are trying to dump Lucic lol

Panarin may be the best player in the deal now but Nylander has a ceiling that could make him just as good and possibly even better, especially if he can become a good centre. Nylander is also several years younger than Panarin, Kadri is better than Jenner and gives the Leafs all the things that are outlined as positives for Columbus. On top of that, Kapanen is better than Anderson, way more speed and can be an elite Penalty killer or play up in the lineup and score.

This is a no go for Toronto. You just don't trade youth and centre depth unless you are getting the same back, which they are not in this trade.
