Realistic Ryan O’Reilly to MTL trade.

Created by: sabres1108
Team: 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2018
Published: Jun. 21, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I did O’Reilly + Scandella for Drouin + 2018 2nd round pick (#62 overall pick) and a Canadiens fan and I agreed on the deal shown below so figured I’d see what the squad would look like and try to see what other people think of this.

Big part of the deal the 2019 1st not Pacioretty. He will
be good goal scoring LW for Eichel for a couple years but just have to hope ROR makes the habs as bad as he has made the Sabres the past 3 seasons and that could be a high pick. Then we have 3-1st rounders in what has been rumoured to be a loaded 2019 draft.

Please comment below about the trades, signings, and lines. I’m open for changes!

That is an awful trade for Buffalo, we get shafted. for starters you'd need to take out Scandella. Not to mention why must we always push off picks to next year? I'm done with playing the waiting game and kicking the can further into the future.

Additionally Nelson for Lehner won't work anymore with us planning not to qualify Lehner.

here we go another guy overvaluing O’Reilly.....Weve done nothing but suck since we got him...and may as well get something for Scandella before he leaves in Free agency we have plenty of LHD on the team already he is dispenable now with Dahlin coming on board....may as well trade these guys for the future u gotta realize its a new GM new rebuild of roster....It will be a few years til all our core franchise players are in their primes and are part of a contending team. Eichel, Dahlin, Mittelstadt, Ristolainen and Reinhart are all still very young and by the time they are all elite players in the league O’Reilly will be like 32 making 7.5 mil to win faceoffs on the third line behind jack and casey so may as well aquire more young assests for the future while he still has value. you make it seem like ROR is sooo much better than Pacioretty and hes not.

thats a good trade too but rather get that 2019 1st. then we have 3 next year in whats supposed to be a loaded draft. i have a feeling MTL thinks they can contend with ROR as their #1 C but id bet that pick ends up as top 10 if they believe this. hes not as good as everyone thinks, sabres have done nothing but suck since we traded for him.

ROR is a lot better that Patches...... value wise at minimum. He's younger, under contract, and is a center.
There's 0 reason to trade Scandella when he won't be a UFA for another 2 year, I'd like to have at least 1 Dman who isn't Bogosian over the age of 23.
There is 0 reason we cannot try to compete next year for a playoff spot, we don't need to keep waiting for the future..... we've done that for 7 years already.

patches is a goal scorer and the sabres finish like bottom 5 in goals for every year weve had o reilly on the team and j realize patches is pending ufa thats why i put in the comments he would have to agree to an extension or its a big fat no on the trade obviously.......and yeah but try telling boterill its been 7 years he will say its been 1 year of no playoffs....im a huge sabres fan but i realize that theres a very low chance we make the playoffs this year like i said before it wont be until all our top picks core players are at least like 25 yo.....we could try an sign ufas like JVR or Bozak or Perron or whatever only to what get swept in the first round? Botterill is going to do this the right way and it involves patience.

I guess we should trade eichel and reinhart too. And ristolainen.

Scandella has 2 years left too.

If BUF fans think Scandella is too much in this situation, replace him with someone else who might be a little less valuable. Patches can also be traded afterwards by BUF to another team if Sabres fans really don't want him.

Here's a hypothetical scenario after this trade:

To BUF -> Pearson + 1st rd pick (top 10 protected)
        To LAK -> Pacioretty

So after both deals it would be BUF trading ROR and Scandella and getting:

        Pearson
        Hudon
MTL 2019 1st rd pick (unprotected)
LAK 2019 1st rd pick (top 10 protected)
        MTL 2018 2nd rd pick

how is that not a good deal?...
