Description
Carolina - Hanifin is one of the many players supposedly available this offseason. He would be a good fit on the Islanders left side potentially paired with Ryan Pulock. I believe that 11th overall is a pretty fair price to pay for him and will allow Carolina to add another key piece to their team (Ty Smith or Joe Veleno perhaps?). Michael Dal Colle is in need of a change of scenery to get his NHL career started. Depending on who else may get moved by Carolina, the former #5 overall pick could likely find a spot on their 3rd line. I would add a contingent 3rd (that could become a 2nd) or another prospect here to solidify the deal.

Montreal - Everybody knows Bergevin is seeking a Center. Nelson could fill a 2C role for them at a reasonable cost (currently an RFA). In return, the Isles take back Alzner on a reduced salary and use him as their 3rd pairing LD. He has history with Barry Trotz and played pretty well under him before signing in MTL. Even if he isn't his former self, Alzner should be serviceable in a role like this.

Edmonton - While Grubauer is (rightfully) linked with the Islanders, I think Lou would chase a bigger fish if the opportunity arose. Cam Talbot is reportedly available and Edmonton is willing to play ball. Talbot has a longer track record than Grubauer and has proved to be a great #1 starter with a good team in front of him. You also have to consider how willing Washington would be to deal Gruby within the division, especially to the team where Trotz and other Washington assistance coaches are about to flock to.

Buffalo - Need to open a little cap room. Buffalo takes Greiss, who could back up/push Ullmark for two seasons. They receive a 2nd round pick as compensation. Isles get some mild bottom-6 forward depth.

Its not even about value its just carolina has no reason to trade hanifin for a pick that they hope to become hanifin one day and then Dal Colle who is pretty much looking like a bust

yeah I did, we aren't moving a top dman for a prospect who has yet to prove he can perform at the NHL level and a 11 pick. There are sure to be better offers out there for young puck moving dman.

Well the pick doesn't have to be a defenseman - it was just an example. Carolina could use it as capital in another trade or take a forward like Veleno. This is a deep draft and it's meant to give flexibility.
