[SERIOUS] Sharks w/ Tavares

Created by: MadMickey
Team: 2018-19 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 23, 2018
Published: Jun. 23, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Signings:

Tavares - 11-11.5M AAV, 7 Years Age: 27 '17-'18 82GP 37G 47A 84TP
No team looking to sign Tavares will be doing so for any less than 11M AAV.

Hertl - 4.25-4.5M AAV, 6 Years Age: 24 '17-'18 79GP 22G 24A 46TP
After his bridge contract, the Sharks have seen what Hertl can do and both parties will be looking to add stability and term to the new deal. The sharks will look to the contracts of Kadri and Couturier for this deal to get done.

Tierney - 2.25-2.75M AAV, 2 Years Age: 23 '17-'18 82GP 17G 23A 40TP
The toughest signing to guage. Last season Tierney stepped his game up almost doubling up on his point total of the previous season while also playing significant time as the 3C on the team. Tierney will be after a bridge contract to show that he can keep performing at this level and improve. One issue though will be the centre depth the Sharks would have in the case that Tavares signs with the Sharks. Tierney would be forced back into the 4C role which could be dissatisfactory.

Thornton - 1-1.5M AAV, 1 Year Age: 38 '17-'18 47GP 13G 23A 36TP
Returning from injury and his juicy $8M contract (most likely with a handshake deal) look to Jumbo taking a large pay cut to help the team and bring the Cup home to San Jose.

Demelo - 0.9M-1.25M, 1 Year Age: 25 '17-'18 63GP 0G 20A 20TP
The Sharks will be looking to sign Demelo to a reasonably cheap bridge contract that will bring him into his final RFA year. Demelo will also be looking for a raise after seeing more ice time than ever in the NHL. This signing may also not happen and GMDW may look to Tim Heed to take over the bottom pairing role.

Trades:

Karlsson - To wherever takes him. (Not necessarily CBJ)
GMDW will be looking to shed one more contract this year and Kalsson will most likely be the one. The 4th liner will be paired with a mid round pick and sent to a team looking to add a little more depth in their bottom 6. Expect a late round pick in return.

A Sharks fan who wants to insult Thornton, the longtime face of the Franchise! Either show some respect or let him walk!

How much would you pay for a 38 year old man who's coming off of his second knee injury in two years? Jumbo bleeds teal, wants to win and do it with the Sharks, he'll be taking a pay cut.

AGREED! Thorton would simply say "See ya" and that would be the last time you see him. 1.5 No Way in Hell is he taking that more like 7.5 for 1 Year maybe. And I know Edmonton needs a good PP guy and this is what they need.

Would love to see Tavares happen, but I have doubts about quality of the blue line depth (just thinking about Burns, who needs better stay-at-home buddy).
I like Hertl's money, but i think he will get more.
Agree with Tierney and Demelo.

About Thornton, if Sharks sign Tavares, there is no need to sign Jumbo (Tavares, Couture and Tierney are awesome centers and Hertl is there too), with Jumbo the quality would be insane but seriously after his injury and at his age, he might end up like Jagr did this season (hope he does not, he deserves the cup). Point is that sjs has no reason to give him some large money because even without him, they would have good team (yeah, Tavares would have to sign first). I also heard rumours about him giving discount to make the cap work, so much he wants the cup with Sharks. If he signs with other team, i would go for Fehr as a 4th center (i really liked the 4th line in playoffs).
